Install Forge via CurseForge
This guide explains how to install and launch a Minecraft: Java Edition modpack with the CurseForge desktop application. You must install the same Minecraft version, mod loader, and modpack version used by your UltraServers server.
Prerequisites
- Own Minecraft: Java Edition.
- Install the modpack on your UltraServers server before configuring the client.
- Note the modpack name and version installed on the server.
- Confirm whether the modpack uses Forge, Fabric, NeoForge, or Quilt.
- Close Minecraft and the Minecraft Launcher before installing the modpack.
Download CurseForge
- Open the official CurseForge download page.
- Select the download for your operating system.
- On Windows, choose one of the following options:
- Click Download standalone to install the CurseForge-only application.
- Click Download on Overwolf to install CurseForge with Overwolf.
- Save the installer to your computer.
Install CurseForge
- Open the downloaded installer.
- Select your preferred language if prompted.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to install CurseForge.
- Open CurseForge after the installation finishes.
- Complete any first-run setup requested by the application.
Select Minecraft
- Open the CurseForge application.
- Select Minecraft from the list of supported games.
- If CurseForge requests the Minecraft installation location, allow it to detect the default installation or select the correct folder manually.
- Wait for CurseForge to finish preparing Minecraft.
Install the Modpack
- Open the Minecraft section in CurseForge.
- Select Browse.
- Search for the modpack installed on your UltraServers server.
- Open the correct modpack from the search results.
- Confirm that the modpack uses the same mod loader as the server:
- Forge packs require Forge.
- Fabric packs require Fabric.
- NeoForge packs require NeoForge.
- Quilt packs require Quilt.
- Click Install.
- If CurseForge offers multiple releases, select the exact modpack version installed on the server.
- Wait for CurseForge to download the modpack and its dependencies.
Launch the Modpack
- Open My Modpacks.
- Locate the installed modpack.
- Confirm that its version matches the version installed on your UltraServers server.
- Click Play.
- Allow the Minecraft Launcher to open if prompted.
- Wait for the modpack to finish loading.
Connect to the Server
- Select Multiplayer from the Minecraft main menu.
- Click Add Server.
- Enter a recognizable name in the Server Name field.
- Enter the address displayed in your UltraServers panel in the Server Address field.
- Click Done.
- Select the server and click Join Server.
Troubleshooting
- If the modpack does not appear under My Modpacks, return to Browse and verify that the installation completed.
- If CurseForge reports an incompatible profile, confirm that the mod, Minecraft version, and mod loader are compatible.
- If the game crashes during launch, review the modpack’s CurseForge page and support resources.
- If Minecraft displays an outdated client or server error, compare the Minecraft versions used by the client and server.
- If Minecraft displays a missing-mod or mismatched-mod-channel error, compare the client and server modpack versions.
- If the modpack was updated on the server, update the client to the same release before reconnecting.
