Manual Installation of Modpacks
In this guide, we will show you how to manually install modpacks, rather than using the modpack installer on our panel.
Download the Modpack
- Visit a trusted modpack site (e.g., CurseForge, Modrinth).
- Search for the desired modpack.
- Download the modpack's server files, which usually come in
.zipformat. - Save the file to a convenient location on your computer.
Prepare the Modpack for Upload
- Ensure the folder contains the necessary files (like
mods,config,libraries, and server.jarfiles). - Make sure all essential files are present.
- Make sure the file is in the
.zipformat.
Access Your UltraServers Panel
- Login to the Panel, see Access the Panel for instructions.
- Navigate to the server on which you want to install the modpack.
- Stop the server to prevent any issues during the upload process.
Upload the Modpack to the Server
- Use the built-in Upload button within the Files tab on the UltraServers panel.
- Alternatively, connect to the server via SFTP Transfer using a client like FileZilla if the modpack zip is too large.
- Delete all existing files in the server's root directory.
- Upload the zipped modpack files to the server's root directory.
- Now click the
...three dots and click the Unarchive button, and wait.
- Files will be extracted in a directory named according to the zip file.
- Open this directory and select all the files, and click the Move button.
- 1 Click the Backward button.
- 2 After that, click Move button to move files to the root directory.
Start Server and Play
- Once the file is done extracting, click the start server button.
- First-time startup on modpacks can take a while, so please wait patiently.
- Once the startup is done, you can join your server and enjoy playing!
Install Forge Manually
If the server does not start after installing the modpack, you likely need to manually install the correct Forge version for it.
- Navigate to the Change Version tab on the panel.
- Select Forge as the server type.
- Choose the Forge version required by the modpack (check the modpack's page on CurseForge or Modrinth for the exact version).
- Accept the EULA.
- Do NOT enable the option to delete/wipe files, this would remove the modpack files you uploaded.
- Confirm to begin the version installation, then start the server again.
Custom Startup Commands
Some modpacks may include a Bash startup script, such as start.sh, that must be run with a custom startup command. If your modpack requires this, open a support ticket so our team can review the requirement and help configure it.
