SFTP Transfer

In this guide, we will show how to use SFTP with UltraServers. A way to securely upload large or multiple files without the use of the panel.

You will need to download a SFTP client such as FileZilla, WinSCP or Cyberduck before you begin with this tutorial. We recommend WinSCP.

Access your Server

Login to the panel, Access the Panel see for instructions.
Access the sever you wish to manage.

Navigate to Settings

Click the 1 Settings tab.
Click the 2 Launch SFTP button to see if the SFTP client launches pre-filled with your connection details.

If the above step opened your SFTP client and automatically connected, you can skip the below Connect via SFTP section and jump down to Linked page.

Connect via SFTP

You can click on the SFTP connection details in your panel to copy them to your clipboard, and then paste them into the corresponding field in your SFTP client (WinSCP is shown in the example below).

Open your SFTP client of choice. For example, WinSCP, FileZilla, or some other client.
Open the Site Manager to save your connection.
Copy the Server Address (IP only) from your panel and paste it into the 1 Hostname field.

Paste the Port in the Port number field.

Copy your Username from your panel and paste it into the 2 Username field.
Enter your password in the 3 Password field.
Next, click the Save button.

Name your connection in the 4 Site name field.
Optionally, checkmark 5 Save password.

Click the 6 OK button to save your connection details in the Site Manager.

1 You will now see your SFTP connection to your UltraServers game server as an entry in the Site Manager.
Finally, click 2 Login / Connect / Quickconnect (depending on your client) to connect to your server via SFTP.

Once connected, a two-pane file explorer will be made available. One side is your local storage, and the other is the storage of your UltraServers game server. See below for an example of how it looks in WinSCP.

Upload Files via SFTP

Once you successfully connected to your server via your SFTP client, you will be presented with a two-pane file explorer. One side is your local storage, and the other is the storage of your UltraServers game server.
To upload or download your files/folders, simply drag them from one pane to the other.
The time it takes to upload depends on many factors, such as the upload speed size of the upload latency (distance between you and the server), and so on.

Uploading a lot of small files can make the upload process take ages, so it is recommended to zip those files and then extract the archive when the upload has finished. For detailed instructions on how to compress and extract your files, see Archive and Unarchive Files.
