Join Minecraft Server from Any Version
In this guide, we will show you how to join Minecraft server from any version. You will navigate the simple process of installing ViaVersion via your UltraServers dashboard, restarting your server to apply changes, and verifying the successful installation of the plugin.
Install ViaVersion
- Log into your UltraServers dashboard.
- Go to your server’s control panel, find the Plugins tab, and search for
ViaVersion
. - Click Install to add it to your server.
Restart Your Server
- After installing ViaVersion, hit the Restart button on your server control panel, this will make sure the plugin is loaded.
Check Installation
- Log into your Minecraft server and type
/viaversion
to see if the plugin is working. - It should show you the version of ViaVersion installed.
Installing ViaBackwards
- This may be optional as stated earlier, please ignore this if suggested tool tells you that all you need is ViaVersion.
- Head to so your Plugins tab.
- search for
ViaBackwards
. - Click on the Install button.
- Restart the server.
Blocking off specific versions
- Please note you may skip this step if you don’t want to limit what versions can join your server. For the purpose of this guide We’ll prevent users below 1.20 from joining.
- Head to the file manager tab
- you’ll find the config.yml file in
/plugins/ViaVersion
from the root directory. Once you find it open the file. - Locate
block-versions:
and set it toblock-versions: [”<1.20”]
. - Save your changes and Restart the server.
- Your server should now accept connections from various Minecraft versions without any further setup.
