Change the Server View Distance
The server view distance determines how many chunks are loaded around each player on the server. By adjusting this setting, you can control how much of the world is visible to players, affecting gameplay and server performance. This guide will walk you through changing your Minecraft server view distance.
Access Files
- Login to the panel. See Access the Panel for instructions.
- Click the 1 Files tab in the navigation bar on the left-hand side.
- Locate the
server.properties
file. - This file contains the configuration settings for your Minecraft server.
- 2 Open the
server.properties
file by clicking on it.
Edit Config File
- Find the
view-distance
line within theserver.properties
file. - This line contains the setting for the server view distance.
- 1 Change the value of
view-distance
to your preferred value. - The default setting is
10
, and valid values range from3
to32
. - The higher the number, the more chunks will be loaded around each player, which may increase server load and lag.
- After changing the value, save and exit the editor by pressing the 2 Save Content button.
- A higher view distance can create more immersive gameplay, but might stress your server’s resources.
- A lower view distance can help improve server performance, but may limit the visible range for players.
- Choose a balance that fits the needs of your server and its players.
Restart the Server
- Finally, restart your server to apply the changes.
