Install Client Side Mods
This guide will cover the difference between client and server mods, and how to install mods on your Minecraft client.
Client-side vs. Server-side
There are two types of mods, the ones that run on the client and those that run on the server.
Mods that do not alter gameplay elements in ways that affect other players do not need to be installed on the server. A good example of this would be a mod that changes how some animations are played, as it has no effect on gameplay it does not “matter” whether other players have that mod or not.
In contract, if a mod were to for instance add a spaceship to the game, it would need to be present on the server so other players can see and interact with said spaceship.
