Crossplay on Java and Bedrock
This guide will teach you how to install and configure Geyser to allow cross-play between Bedrock and Java edition Minecraft servers.
Login to the Panel
- Start by setting up a Minecraft Java Edition server on UltraServers. If you already have one, then disregard this step.
- Login to the panel. See Access the Panel for instructions.
Install Geyser
- There are currently multiple ways you can install Geyser. We recommend using the Mod/Plugin method; however, this guide will cover every method.
Install Geyser and Paper out of the box
- Our version changer enables users to effortlessly install Geyser on top of Paper with just a single click. Ensuring your server is up and running in minutes, ready for action right out of the box.
- 1 Click on the Change Version tab.
- 2 Click the Paper + Geyser button.
- 1 Ensure Wipe Server Files is enabled. If you prefer to keep your existing setup, please skip this section, as this guide focuses on installing Geyser on an existing setup.
- 2 Click the Install geyser-paper button.
- Congratulations, you now have a server where both Java and Bedrock users can join. Your server IP will work for both platforms.
Install Geyser on an existing Server
- There are currently multiple ways you can install Geyser on your existing server. We recommend using the Mod/Plugin manager method; however, we will also cover the manual process.
Through the Plugin manager
- Go to the 1 Plugins tab, 2 search for
Geyser
plugin, and click the 3 Install button.
- Then, from the GeyserMC website, download Floodgate.
Through the Mod manager
- Go to the 1 Minecraft Mods tab, 2 search for
Geyser
mod, and click the 3 Install button. - Additionally, download the Floodgate mod. It allows Bedrock users to join without having to link their Java Minecraft account.
Manual installation
- Visit the GeyserMc download site.
- 1 Ensure you’re on the download page, 2 copy the download URL of the Geyser version you want. For example, we will use Spigot/Paper.
- 3 Click the Floodgate tab and copy the link for the relevant version as well.
- 1 Head to the File manager and 2 click the
plugins
ormod
folder depending on the version you are installing.
- Click the Download File button.
- Paste the Download URL, then hit the Download button.
- Repeat this step with the floodgate URL.
Restart the Server
- 1 Restart your server to load Geyser and generate its configuration files.
- Once the plugin has successfully created the configuration, stop the server using the 2 Stop button.
- This step is crucial for Geyser to load correctly. Using methods such as
PlugManX
or/reload
is not advised.
Configure Geyser
- On the panel, go to the 1 Files tab of your server and open the
plugins
folder. - 2 Then, go to
Geyser-Spigot
locate the Geyser configuration fileconfig.yml
and open it. - In this file, you can customize various settings such as server address, authentication type, etc.
- Make sure the port written under the
bedrock:
section is the same as your Java Edition server Port.
Restart the Server
- Restart your server to apply the changes.
- You may also use
geyser reload
if the changes you make do not require a whole restart. This is typically useful for minor edits.
Connect to Server
- If you are on console, you can follow the official Geyser guide.
- Alternatively, if you are on a PC, Mac, or Linux, you can connect to the server as usual.
